Is that a log cabin you ask? Yes it is, and it’s going to be unlike any log cabin you’ve ever seen! Inside these logs of centuries old, you will find a beautifully designed modern space with a character all its own.
The Haley’s episode of Barnwood Builders aired on September 9th on the DIY Network and was so much fun to do. The original log cabin was built by Stonewall Jackson’s Uncle, Cummins Jackson, in 1842 and has a few special features of its own. If these walls could talk… we wonder what they’d say. Bringing new life and new family to this log cabin has been an exciting adventure, but preserving its history has been one of the most important objectives.
To create this rustic meets modern style, we’ve pulled together some amazing products that have depth and texture with a contemporary flair. So if there is not a log on the wall, you’ll find unique patterns that not only mimic days of old, but reflect today’s modern designs.
In the kitchen, you’re going to see a weathered brick porcelain tile on the walls and backsplash mixed with contemporary dove grey shaker style cabinets. Several of the walls throughout the cabin will share the same brick design and wall texture to bring a sense of cohesiveness on the main floor. In the upstairs loft, you’ll find that same feel with slightly different patterns and tiles. We’re also adding a totally unexpected element: a wavy glass tile on all the walls in the powder bath. Everywhere you look inside this cabin, you’ll find designs that will not only inspire you, but challenge your creativity.
This story is 200 years in the making and it’s not quite finished yet. The families that have called this place home are now remembered within these doorways of time. Every piece of charm and character that was original to this cabin will be forever engraved in the walls of these logs, but made made new in a design that the Haley’s can call their own.
